Farm Extension Manager (FEM@Mobile) is a mobile application designed to support the agricultural community, particularly in Kerala, providing a wealth of information on 100 essential crops. It is important to note that this application is not affiliated with any government entity.

The app is available in both English and Malayalam and offers full functionality in online mode while also supporting offline use, catering to the needs of small, marginal, and large farmers alike.

FEM@Mobile encompasses ten categories of information, which include:

• Plant protection
• Organic inputs
• Agrochemicals
• Agricultural quizzes
• Video gallery
• Farm posters
• Expert support
• Contact directory
• App information

The crops are categorized into broad groups such as spices, vegetables, and medicinal plants. Detailed information regarding crop production encompasses aspects such as planting, variety selection, fertilization, aftercare, and harvesting.

The application provides specific guidance on planting operations, detailing information about seed materials, spacing requirements, planting times, and methods. Users can access data on approximately 800 recommended crop varieties.

Fertilizer recommendations are available in formats tailored for both straight fertilizers and specific applications per unit area or plant. Users can find precise details on fertilizer quantities needed for different timings and methods of application.

The plant protection segment includes comprehensive data on the symptoms and control measures for over 500 insect pests, 700 plant diseases, and 1100 deficiency disorders, with equal emphasis placed on organic and inorganic control methods.

Dive deeper into the specifics of fertilizers, herbicides, fungicides, and insecticides within the app. The expert support feature allows users to send field photographs directly to scientists for assistance.

The addition of an online agricultural quiz enriches the learning experience through two engaging rounds: a descriptive round and a picture round focused on identifying diseases and pests through imagery.

The video gallery features a curated selection of short educational videos from experts at Kerala Agricultural University (KAU), facilitating easy access to visual learning resources organized by topic.

Farm posters further enhance information accuracy through visual aids. A contact directory for agricultural extension workers is also included within the app.

This mobile application is freely available for download and distinguishes itself through its user-friendly interface. The organized navigation path simplifies information retrieval, while concise sentences and paragraphs improve content readability.

The development of FEM@Mobile builds upon the farm extension manager website concept and has been undertaken by a team of scientists from Kerala Agricultural University (KAU), with funding provided by the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of Kerala, along with the State Planning Board of Kerala.
